Travel Guide: How To Obtain The Namibian Visa With A Ghanaian Passport

Background

I went on a solo traveling adventure to Namibia in April 2024 and because dissipating information to our travel community and encouraging us all to see as much of the world as we possibly can is important to us, here’s a detailed guide on all you need to know about obtaining the Namibian Tourist Visa for Ghanaian Passport holders. Note: The Visa is by far one of the easiest visas I have obtained for my travels. It take 5-7 working days to get it.

Four (4) Easy Steps To Obtaining The Visa

1. Set a date for your trip

2. Examine the list of requirements for visa application (I elaborate on each item below)

• A Valid Passport 

• Certified copy of passport bio page

• Two (2) passport size pictures

• Proof of Employment
  

• Pay Slips (past three Months)

• Bank Statements (six months)

• Return Flights & Hotel Reservation
  

• Completed Visa Application Form 

• Photocopy of ECOWAS ID

• Invitation Letter

3. Submit documents to Consulate for vetting

4. Pick up your Passport and Visa

Description of Requirements

• A Valid Passport 

The first, most important requirement in successfully obtaining a visa for your travels is to have a valid passport. This means that your passport must at be valid for at least 6 months to your travel dates & must have at least 6 blank pages. 

• Certified copy of Passport BioPage

The Namibian High Commission requires a certified photocopy of the passport biopage for visa applications. This certification must be done by a Commisioner of Oaths.

• Two passport size pictures

Must be clear, identical, recent and clean.

• Proof of Employment

As part of the requirements, you will be required to submit a proof of employment to the High Commissioner, indicating that you are gainfully employed in Ghana. An appointment letter [if employed] or introductory letter [if self-employed] should suffice.

For salaried workers, this letter can be obtained from your HR Department

• Pay Slips 

These must span three (3) consecutive months from the date of submission.

• Bank Statements

Must be within a minimum of six (6) months from the date os submission.

It must be printed, authenticated and stamped by your bank.

• Flight & Hotel Reservation 

The consulate requires a submission of confirmed flight itineraries and hotel reservations as part of the application requirements.

• Completed Visa Application Form

This is perhaps the most important document to be submitted as it communicates in its entirety, what you require from the consulate. The visa application form can be found online here or picked up from the Consulate’s reception in Accra.

• Photocopy of ECOWAS ID

The Namibian High Commission requires a certified photocopy of your ECOWAS ID as proof of identification for Ghanaian applicants

• Invitation Letter

You should obtain and submit an introductory letter from the travel agency that will be hosting you in Namibia. This is discretionary, but if obtained, will authenticate the purpose of your trip and demonstrate trust in your application.

Note: Opening hours for visa application submissions is from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm every weekday except on fridays when they open from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Visa Fee for obtaining a Namibian Visa with a Ghanian Passport is GHS 800 ($60)
